Creative Thinking Equals More Money

Posted Monday, December 15, 2008 by momscashblog | 26 Comments so far

The ice storm hit New England hard and while I was without power I was very cold and very bored. All I wanted to do was go online and get to my blogs. Well, I really wanted to do ANYTHING and everything that required electricity! I wanted to go online, I wanted a hot cup of coffee, I wanted to watch TV, wanted to blast the stereo, wanted to cook up a storm, and I wanted to take a nice hot Whirlpool bath, all at the same time! Since I couldn’t do any of those things without power, I decided to sit down with pen and paper to brainstorm and plan more ways to make money online.

Like many people, I use my computer to write posts and take care of business, but a friend of mine who teaches classes in creativity says that we should make a habit of sitting down with pencil and paper to really get our creative juices flowing. When we sit down to a computer our brain automatically goes into technical mode. Using a pen or pencil switches the brain to a creative mode and makes it easier to think up unique ideas and get them onto paper. My friend’s creativity classes used to be full of artists and writers but over the past 2 years she’s become the “creativity guru” for successful business people who want to become more creative in business and marketing. The best entrepreneurs have ideas that are unique and that’s what gives them the edge over their competitors. If you want to make money online don’t just focus on the technical stuff. You should also learn whatever you can about ways to think creatively.

When we stick to the same routine and do things the same way every day, we have the same old thoughts and ideas day after day. We get into a non-creative rut and we stay there. Making money online requires creative thinking so changing things up every once in a while gets our mind going in different directions. To come up with unique ideas you need to find ways to think different thoughts because different thoughts bring different and better results in business. You need to think of new ways to make money. Most people don’t make money because they are stuck in the same pattern of thinking as everyone else. You have to be original to hit it big in the online moneymaking business. You should always play around with new ideas so that your product or business will be different and more noticeable than your competitor’s.

Since I had no power I sat down with a pen and pad of paper and thought up new ideas for unique online business opportunities and I up with some fantastic plans that were so good I have to keep them secret. Within a half an hour of brainstorming and freehand writing, many wonderful online business ideas flowed out of my mind and onto paper. By the time I was done I had 6 pages of ideas and in the end I came up with some interesting ways to make money. Now I’m excited to try them out on one my blogs to see if they work!

HEY HEY HEY!
So true, how we are all slaves to technology and electricity…how would we survive without it, and without supermarkets? There are truly many ways to make money, but getting the idea is only the first step, most people stop there and are just unable or unwilling to take action!
Thanks for your post on my Million Dollar journey, I wish you good luck on yours too, you are probably a lot further than me already:) Lets start the next youtube together, sell it for one billion$ :)
hehe!
Ciao!

I have many good ideas just don’t know what to do with them. Do you know where to go for inventions? I heard most places will steal your ideas. It is hard to know what is safe on the internet.

Lots of really good points here JJ. When I’m writing articles to submit to other sites, I always write them out on paper first.

Hard copy seems to get my creative juices going more somehow! In fact most of my best ideas for making money online tend to come to me when I’m away from my computer – I guess it’s too easy to get sidetracked sometimes by things that you come across when online.

Hi Dirk, We’ll call it “ME&YOUtube”. lol (My WiFi keeps going off since the power outage, but I’ll e-mail you later.)

Betsy… I do have the name of some reputable patent companies somewhere around here. My ex was an attorney and had some good sources. I will send you an e-mail when I find it. Good luck, and keep working on those ideas!

Hi John…. I agree, it’s too easy to get sidetracked online. I think with a pen and paper thoughts come straight from the heart.

Hey Laura…. AFTER I try my big idea I’ll share it, that way if it fails no one will ever know. lol

Hey JJ! Thanks for the love over on my blog. ;) I wish I could send some of this 85 degree weather to melt some of that ice for you. :)

I have to say I write a lot of articles on paper first. I write a lot of content pages for my husband and his sites…when I do..I usually write them out on paper first. It flows so much easier for me than if I were to stare at the screen. I do brainstorm as well. It really works so more people should try what your saying to get their juices flowing. I hope your ideas work so we can get in on them! ;)

Hi JJ!

It’s great to be back online! Thanks for being a Top supporter on my blog! :)

Re: your post, I agree with you. I use pen and paper first to everything, from writing posts and articles, to draw flowcharts before writing code and even to write some code before going to programming.

Indeed, my post writing process is somehow redundant because I first write the post on a notebook (if it gets too messy I rewrite it – pen and paper – again). Then I type it in MS Word, which accomplish two purposes: a good spell-checking and a backup file in case something happen with the database. As a last step I copy and paste it to the blog and add graphics and pictures (if any) and links.

After that, I take a nap ;)

Have a nice day, keep yourself warm. Wish you don’t have to go through more ice storms for the rest of the winter, and if you have to, old fashioned read and writing won’t hurt you :)

Will do, Shafar!

Hey mominator… I will take that 85 degrees. lol We’re having a storm right now and there are thousands still without power from last weekend, then another blizzard is coming Friday. When I make enough blog money I will buy a winter home in a warmer climate (like wherever you are, lol).

Hi Anthony, I would need a nap after all that writing and thinking. lol I think I have a little dyslexia so I have to read and edit my posts many times. I might do better if I start with pen and paper. btw, I love the disclaimer on your site. I admire anyone who speaks 2 languages and writes in both.(I need a disclaimer for when I go off topic like I did with your contest. lol)

Hello JJ,

That is so true, I write a lot on papers compared to WYIWYG in WordPress.

I can’t wait to see your secret plans on action! :)

I think it is a good idea to review your objectives and how you can make money every so often whether it be a current site or a new site that you think could do really well. I try to brainstorm (actually set time aside) at least once a month. It really helps me.

Anthony, lol.

Norhafidz… my ideas probably aren’t all that great, but they were totally different from my usual money making thoughts, so we’ll see how it goes.

KateC… Good idea to schedule a monthly brainstorming session. It’s the little changes that make the big differences, I think.

I always write poetry with pen and paper but I never thought of writing money making ideas on paper. My mind would flow a lot with a pen and paper in front of me. The only reason I know it is because I get out of hand while writing poetry.

I hope your ideas work and make you lots of money.

Hungry for Love… you already have your creative juices flowing so I’m sure that spills over into everything you do. I think the greatest business ideas come from our creative mind.

Hi JJ,
Depends on how long you can hold IBM. I would recommend wait for some time if you can. That way you can minimize losses or hope for gains.

Holidays are when some people need payday loans the most. The commercial side of the holiday season is certainly somewhat annoying. If this is how you feel – then you are in luck – December 23rd was a different kind of holiday. December 23rd was the day of Festivus – a different holiday, a Festivus for the rest of us! Festivus revolves around the Festivus dinner. After dinner comes the Airing of Grievances, where you tell your closest friends and loved ones how they have let you down over the year. Then comes the Feats of Strength – wherein the head of the household has to be wrestled to the floor for Festivus to conclude. An aluminum pole is used for decoration, rather than the traditional Christmas tree, but only the aluminum pole itself, unadorned. Festivus was created by the father of a writer for the TV show, Seinfeld, and the holiday was incorporated into a legendary episode of the show as a creation of character George Costanza’s father. For more about The Festivus for the Rest of Us, check out this article on the payday loan blog. And maybe you should put it on your calendar for next year.

I like the idea of going back to basics and using pen and paper. We tend to think that the only way to write is on our PC, but pen and paper came first. I understand when you say that sitting in front of a PC makes you think more technically and not so much about the content you are trying to write. I will certainly try going back to the old method of getting ideas down. Thanks.

Decent blog. You may also use other things such as Clickbank to promote products and receive affiliate commission. It’s best to use article marketing for things like this, though.
