Momscashblog had a chance to be part of Lee Ka Hoong’s of MyBlog2Day.com blog’s contest last month. MCB was asked to donate a gift and I chose to donate a cash prize to the winner of his contest. MyBlog2Day.com holds contest quite frequently and he always draws a good crowd, this one was no different. If you love contest, then check out MyBlog2Day.com and see when Lee’s next contest is, you will want to enter.
The winner of MyBlog2Day.com contest was Onibalusi Bamidde of Youngprepro.com. I was given his email so I could send my portion of his prize via PayPal, which was just one part of his many prizes that he was to receive. I think you’ll find Onibalusi a very interesting young man, I did just from the short correspondence we had through the email about his winnings. I found his personality something that came through even though we were emailing back ‘n’ forth. He’s only 16 years old and from Nigeria. His father died at an early age and Onibalusi had a very understanding mother who evidently encouraged him in everything he did, especially his love of computers. He mentions that he received his first computer at the age of 13 and now at the age of 16 has his first blog. Onibalusi feels that he can and will change the blogging world. You know what ? I believe this young man will, and is on his way to bigger things and will achieve his status of an entrepreneur before we know it. I wish him all the luck and great success that I know will come his way.
When I went to check out YoungPrePro’s blog, I found a really informative and fun blog. His style of writing was easy to read and he writes about content that you won’t find in other make money blogs, which is refreshing in itself. It seems like he’s been blogging for 10 years or more. You’ll find yourself reading his or one of his many guest blog writers post and find yourself saying “I never thought of that technique”. He has great ideas for back-links, traffic that you can deliver to your blog & how the traffic you get can determine a lot about you the blogger. He has great posts about Social Networking that are intriguing and sure to make you think more about SocialNetworking and your blog while making money.

Turning Ones Passion into a Business
We are always looking for new ways to make money online. We discuss affiliate marketing, starting a blog, or dropshipping with websites. But have you heard of “the Maker Movement” or “hobbypreneurs”? It’s considered a “boom” on the internet, turning ones passions into small businesses. A person with a gift for knitting, the arts, jewelry making, writing stories or poetry whatever hobby you are into, can now make you money on the internet. Taking those hobbies and creating a store online (small business) with the help of new internet applications that are coming out almost everyday, anyone can now feature their wares on the internet and make money.
A lot of us have heard or are members of one of the very best sites on the internet for people with any kind of artistic know how, or a passion for crafting and that would be Etsy’s dot com. It is like a global marketplace where one can buy or sell their handmade items and turn them into cash. Martha Stewart has featured Etsy’s on her show several times as her favorite craft website. If any of you haven’t ever visited http://etsy.com you’ll see some of the most talented & unique craftsmanship, give it a look. Etsy’s gives you, the artist or craftsman a chance to make money and show your work on your storefront.
People of all ages are turning their passions for crafts, hobbies, writings, & music into businesses where it can either be full or part time jobs. Typically some of these ventures do just start off as a hobby or a love for a certain craft and later it transforms into a business online.
On Demand Publishing
Since the use of the internet, computer programs and high tech tools, things have been easier and cheaper to make in this age of internet technology. You can now become a published author with your own hard or soft cover books. There are POD “print on demand” dot coms, self publishing, and ODP “on demand publishing” dot coms now. One can get their stories, cookbooks, how to books or even that book of poetry you have always thought you had in you published, printed and you can start selling it at Amazon dot com or maybe Barnes & Noble. Have you had dreams about vampires, like Stephanie Meyers phenom author of the Twilight series? I know she didn’t go with a ODP “on demand publishing” but just think about it, if you have a story in you you can get it published now without having to go through a large publishing company just to get turned down.
On cnn.com I had read an article about the subject of “on demand publishing” where the Director of http://lulu.com (which is one of the many “on demand publishing co.’s that one can find by a search) Gail Jordan was talking about all the great things that this fairly new nontraditional publishing companies can offer anyone who wants to write and get published. Jordan was saying there is no one telling you that they want you to change chapter 6 to chapter 10, or that the title doesn’t work for them, remember you can’t get rejected. You pay for these services and they give you what you want without making you change anything. Let’s not forget that this could be considered “Green Publishing” you are only getting a certain amount of books printed so trees are being saved by using these services. (more…)

The numbers are in and E-commerce Research shows that 70% of consumers are going to research and comparison shop online for the upcoming holidays. Halloween’s e-numbers were higher than expected by retailers which makes one think that Christmas 2009 numbers will be higher than thought even during these economic times. To be sure consumers are going to be making wiser decisions, and taking advantage of the online perks like, free shipping, secured shopping, overnight delivery and other great deals that internet shopping offers the consumers.
Christmas, Boxing Day and the upcoming holidays are the biggest shopping days of the year and a great time for retailers and for online affiliate marketing to work for you. Affiliate marketing can be as easy as selling a product on your blog/site or, setting up a web site selling one product or concentrating on several products. This site will have the potential to bring in extra money for you this Christmas and months after. Not getting even a small site/campaign up means you are facing a huge opportunity lost to supplement your income.
Make sure that when it comes to choosing the products that you want to sell on your new website, that you pick products that you have an interest in, it will only make it easier for you to sell something that you stand behind. You should also take a look around the internet, check out the television and thumb through some magazines for the hot items of 2009. I did a google search and some of the hot items that I found for this season are of course hi-tech products. That includes GPS Receivers, any of the Wii games, and of course iPods. Also take note that Tickle Me Elmo is back again, but of course he’s now Tickle Me Elmo Extreme! When it comes to toys don’t overlook the classic board games like Monopoly, Scrabble and Clue, which according to the consumer magazines board games have spiked in sales since 2008. Families are finding themselves staying at home more, rather than spending money that they may not have on going out, and this creates more family time. You may want to keep that in mind when thinking about what products or how you will present your campaign. Don’t forget Fido, pet toys and supplies are a big seller with affiliate marketing there is real money to be made there. Remember you have to now get consumers over to YOUR site, so think about your ads and how you will promote your site or products.
Once you’ve decided on the product[s] that you are going to sell and you’ve done your homework feeling that this item is one that will sell well, it could be worth your while to buy a domain name and, set up a website just for that product. Remember the site doesn’t have to be a large site, it can be just a few pages to which you could add to later on. If you don’t want to put up a site you can start selling products that you have picked and, advertise it on your blog or website now. You should try to stick to the same product on one site, if you are into computers then sell them on one site. Later on you could always open a webstore where you would sell different products, but to get something going for this Christmas keep it simple!
In conclusion do a little bit of research for your products, get your affiliate network ready, get your site up, advertise, promote your products and wait for the money to roll in. Make this a great affiliate Christmas, you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain.

I’ve gotten all of my mail out of the snowbank, and since it’s January there were some tax documents waiting for me. I haven’t received all of my 1099s for my blog income, but the rest will be coming in soon. I’ve lost quite a bit of money in stocks, but that’s just on paper as I didn’t take anything out while the stock market is down… in fact, I bought more stock in companies I am sure of and I know I’ll gain in the future. But anyways, I am actually excited about tax time this year because it means I can prove to my accountant that “You can make money with blogs”!
When I bought MomsCashBlog, I had to tell my financial advisor about it since she holds most of my money. I knew she would not understand or agree with my decision. I met her when I was on the Trade Commission in an affluent city where I was the co-owner of a retail store. She was the accountant/financial advisor/broker to all of the successful business owners on the Trade Commission, so when I decided to get serious with my money, I went to her. It didn’t take me long to realize how she made everyone else so wealthy… she doesn’t let her clients spend money! lol She makes them put everything away and invest it, and weighs every decision for it’s potential risk before she makes a move.

There’s a lot of talk about Google Toolbar PageRank this week with the New Year’s update causing blogs to show less PR and others gaining it — but on the whole it looks like Google is getting strict for 09. Mine went from 4 to 0 in the last round and I didn’t expect any new year changes, but I’m not too shook up over it. I am living proof that you don’t need good PageRank to make money with your blog! I’d much rather make money at home than have good PageRank, but of course, both at the same time is great! lol Unfortunately, with some of the ways blogs make money your PR will drop within a few months of using them.
Google penalizes blogs PR who use TextLinkAds, sponsored posting, pay per post, and some other proven money makers. As as blogger you have to decide what is most important to you. If you are blogging only to get PageRank then you’d better stay away from those types of money makers. On the other hand, if you want to make money with your blog, then you should look into them. But first, you need to get traffic coming to your site because you can’t make money any of those ways without having a good amount of traffic.
A big mistake some new bloggers make is to focus too much on PR. They think seeing good PR on the toolbar means a site is making money but that’s not always true. Someone who wants good PR can optimize their blog to rank well with Google and still not make any money. (more…)

By now, most of us have heard that the best way to make money blogging is by having more than one blog. With multiple blogs you can diversifying your niches just as you would with mutual funds in the stock market. A good mutual fund invests in several different types of stock with several different companies. The money adds up and because all of your eggs are not in one basket, mutual funds are safer than investing in just one stock. The same principal applies to blogs but with blogs you don’t necessarily diversify for the safety of the investment because a blog doesn’t cost much to run. With blogs, you diversify to make MORE money. The average web hosting for a blog is around $7 a month and with most hosting companies you can also get unlimited add-ons for that price, so why not have more than one blog? All you have to pay for is a new domain name but if you don’t want to buy a name, you could even start some more blogs using a free hosted site such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com and use those blogs to drive traffic to your main site by linking them in your posts, or sidebar. (WordPress.com and Blogger.com provide free hosting but you do not own your domain name and there will be restrictions on ad usage.) By having multiple blogs in different niches (categories) and getting streams of income from all of them, you could make a very hefty yearly income right from your own home.
I have recently started two other blogs besides MomsCashBlog and later I hope to start more. I plan to keep them separate from MCB and I even have a friend who is interested in blogging and is working with me to learn about blogging. (and it’s great to have someone to dish with about blogging! lol). MCB makes pretty good money but I want to branch out and make MORE money and learn all I can about how to make money online. I can then pass what I’ve learned onto everyone who comes here. I am enjoying the process and the creativity it takes for each one of them. What I really like is that I can use all of the different aspects of my personality on my different blogs. With this blog, I’m pretty much boxed into a tight niche where I am teaching what I’ve learned about making money online so it’s not really appropriate for me to just talk about myself or certain things that interest me.. on the other ones I can say whatever I want and there’s freedom in that.
