Give and You Shall Receive

Posted Friday, January 9, 2009 by momscashblog | 28 Comments so far

People who know how to make money have several things in common, and one of those things is that they give to others who need help. Most wealthy people give a lot of money to charity or their community. You might think it’s because they are rich that they give, but could it be that they are rich BECAUSE they give? Giving is a very important aspect of the Laws of Attraction and making money… if you give more freely you will receive more freely. What goes around, comes around, as they say, and it’s as true for money and kindness as for anything else. Money and kindness are meant to flow. In most major religions, it’s known as the “law of reciprocity”. When you give to others, it will be reciprocated — meaning whatever you give will come back to you, and MORE, from one source or another.
John D. Rockefeller was known to say whenever he gave money away, even more came right back to him! He started working when he was very young and gave his earnings to the church because his mother told him to. Later he still gave freely not just because it was the right thing to do but also because he saw that giving to others just made good business sense. He was known to be a “mental mathematician” which helped him greatly in business matters. Rockefeller carefully planned every venture he got into and it was always mathematically calculated to bring him money with little to no risk. I think it’s fascinating that a man who didn’t take risks gave so much money to charity. It shows he truly believed in the laws of attraction, or the law of reciprocity. He expected it would come back to him 10 fold and it did! He had the bank records to prove it. Whenever he gave money, he would earn even more money from another source.

You don’t need to be a Rockefeller to be a giving person and benefit from this law of nature. It’s about the Universe rewarding us for keeping it moving in a positive direction. Ze, known as Mominator.com and her husband have been working on a project that is now ready for the public. It is a new video site appropriately named Kind.TV where anyone is welcome to load video clips showing acts of kindness being done in their community. It’s going to be a great place to see what others are doing to make the world a better place, and get us all inspired to do the same. I think this is a wonderfully innovative idea and I wish Ze and her husband much success with Kind.TV.  I’ll be checking it often and maybe I will throw in a few acts of kindness myself. It’s a great idea!

Giving is good for the soul and this TV blog is timely. My daughter has a class assignment is to practice random acts of kindness. I would love to see her projects online. Her grandparents who are out of state could see it also. Thanks

i agree completely, that it pays to give… have you found any other examples of this happening with internet gurus, etc?

Hi JJ,

Wish you had a beautiful Christmas and a wonderful start for this year.

What you say it’s true and I may add “give with your heart”. I don’t think that giving with a mindset of expecting something in return could make you get rewarded by the “law of reciprocity”. It has happened to me many times.

Just as an example, about sixteen years ago I was going through some tough times (economically). I was far from home in another city and had taken the bus from where I was staying to downtown. I only had enough money in my pocket to pay the ticket back. In the middle of the way a beggar get into the bus, she was a woman with a baby in her arms. I don’t remember why, but I was so moved by that mother asking for a penny to feed her baby that without a second thought gave her all the money I had (it wasn’t too much, just a bus ticket value).

After I realized what I did, I begun to mentally prepare to walk back 6 miles but(and here is when the miracle happens). When I get out of the bus, I walked two steps and in the middle of the walkside was (yes, you guess it!) a bill which doubled the value of the money I had just given.

So, what’s the moral? Give from your heart… and you won’t have to walk back six miles :)

Hi Anthony, that’s a perfect story, it’s not every day that money falls from the sky (or from wherever it came) to pay you back for giving. Love it. About me saying you should “expect” what you give to come back… the bible says we should have faith when we give and expect reciprocity. (who am I to argue. lol) and experts in the laws of attraction say the same thing. It’s all part of attracting abundance into your life. What you need will be there for you, and more. I had wonderful holidays and hope you did too. :)

Hi Coffee Buzz.. I would say John Chow is a very giving person and he seems to get rewarded in return. (He does a Thanksgiving and Christmas charity and matches all donations up to $10,000… I think) I’m sure there are others too, but I don’t visit that realm often. lol

Hi Sandy, The Kind.TV does sound perfect for your daughter’s “random act of kindness” assignment. Her good deeds will inspire others.

JJ, Thank you sooo much for your support! It truly means a lot. I really want to inspire people the way I was inspired. That is my ultimate goal with the site. Not only that, but, I want to continue to be inspired by other people and what they do because I truly believe kindness is infectious. Even if the site does not last long term, if it inspires someone to do something and they post it up on the site, then I will forever consider it a success. I’m excited to see what people will come up with.

BTW…I just wanted to share that the idea was my husband’s but, we did have help on this project from another couple who felt like this would be a great way to get people to go out do kind things. Without their contributions this project would be nonexistent. So thank you guys for your help! :)

Hey ZE (Mominator), I think this is a fantastic idea. You, your husband and the gang, came up with a great concept and you guys made it happen. People come up good ideas every day but we don’t always follow through on them. (me included.) Good luck and once the word gets spread around there will be kindness everywhere.

We give because it makes us feel good but it also makes good business sense like you said. It really does come back to us. We just have to look in all directions for what source it is coming from. Very interesting.

I usually try to purchase from people knocking on my door even though I know the stuff they sell tends to be much more inflated. I figured if they are knocking door to door at least they should get some positive response from time to time for the cause they are working toward.
I think this is a very good website to use to educate the kids.
Thanks for sharing!

JJ – Bravo, well done. There is no science to it. You may not receive from the source you gave, but you will receive one way or another. Giving from your heart and not expecting anything in return is priceless. The rewards are withing yourself and endless. Kind.Tv is great, I have a blog, I have not placed any energy yet, but it has to do with all good things. I will let you know. Kind.tv will be a great source for you. :)

Donations or tithing are wonderful ways to give back to sources that provide inspirations and also allow you to support causes that matter most to you. I personally love talking to my kids about sponsoring a child in another country and how the world is not like it is in the U.S. for everyone. Lot’s of opportunities to teach, learn, and bless in the world. Great post!

Hi Satya, I will definitely be visiting your blog. I love reading about other cultures in the world and it’s nice to meet you.

Hi Beth… Yes, the main reason we give is because it feels good, but where this is a make money blog, I wanted to show that giving (and kindness) is good for business, too. You’re so right about the sources. We have to do some detective work to find how things come back to us because it’s not always obvious to us.

Plin… that’s true. If they are going to take the time to see you in person (rather than a phone call) then they deserve the help. I agree that Kind.TV will be great way to educate kids especially if they can participate in it and see themselves doing good for others.

Hi Laura… Kind.TV is the Mominator’s baby! I’m just spreading the word about it.

Hey Tapan… I’ll check it out, Tapan.

Scott…I think it’s great to show children a “world view” of life. Children can be very giving and caring especially when they are shown how different life can be for other kids, as you mentioned. It all starts with learning to have “compassion” for others, and empathy.

Giving in any way, shape, or form is a good thing. Be it money, time, or material. You may not have a lot yourself but you’ll always have more then someone else. Give not to feel good, give to make someone else feel good.

Hi, JJ. I haven’t been on the computer for a while, I’ve been taking a break, but I went on this morning and read your post. What a wonderfully inspirational post! Our family has had many examples of the “law of reciprocity”, just when we need it, out of nowhere, we get paid back. Now, wouldn’t the economic trouble that this country is in be improved if we could only convince Wall Street that greed is not the answer to success? Keep up the great work. Meme

I think the ability to listen and learn wins through. Taking time to study what is working for others always rewards. Being interested in other people’s problems and offering valid solutions will always be a quality marketing startegy.

I agree with you here, I’ve seen the big times like shoemoney and john chow giving away money, charity and donations as often as they receive their rewards for paying it forward.

It’s a lesson in life we all need to learn and grow from, especially at this day and age.

You have a nice looking blog here. I’m sure I’ll be a frequent visitor of yours.

Hi Michael (The Blogger Source)… Good to see you here! I’ll be back for more help soon. lol

Hey Meme… I’ve seen this work in my family as well. It is true, Wall St. could learn a thing or two about giving and greed, etc. hmmm, Maybe they did learn… the hard way!

Zowoco… We do get rewarded for being free with advice and assistance to others.

Hi Pheak… You’re right, the “big guys” give and they get it back many times over. Thanks for stopping by, I’ll do the same.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!! :)
Great post and it’s so true.
Karma, what goes around comes around.
If you help people they will help you. Maybe you will get burnt by some ungrateful people, but they will get whats coming. From experience I can say that the reciprocity does not come back from the same person you gave it too but from someone else.

Love your comments you left on my post, Natural Tim isn’t my friend, he is like you say a dating/seduction guru. That is how he makes his money, and that is the product he promotes. However, he has some seriously inspiring posts about life, and how you should live you life and that is why I mentioned him:)

Many people have goals though, but unless you really write them down, and are reminded about them every day, usually you will find an excuse not to work towards them:) I do that too.

There are many ways to make money, and many products to promote, so there is never really an excuse as to why you sit still. Sometimes we just need to take a quick break and get re-inspired:)

Have an awesome weekend JJ!

Re: thank you for this opportunity to represent the “recieving” side of this discussion. In 2001 I was living a normal life in my home thinking all was well. Without going into detail – my life was suddenly and without warning ripped out from underneath me. No more than eight months later I would find myself homeless and without resources. I had suddenly become one of “those-people” in need. I cannot begin to tell you how humiliating and sad it makes you feel to have to depend on the kindness of strangers. Being in a position of desperation makes you angry – or at least it did me. Your actual survival depends on the amount you recieve from somerone you don’t even know. It is so painful. It wounds you in a way you never forget. I thought of suicide many many times in those days. Fast forward > Jan. 2009. Today I thank God I am 100% healed. Physically, emotionally and working towards financial healing. Life is really good. I thank my creator for putting it in the hearts of those people to extend themselves to me. And I pray that whatever they gave to me in my hour of need – goes back to them or those they love 1,000 fold. God’s commandment: “Love thy neighbor as I have loved you” So now…with a humble and grateful heart…I give aanything I can. Even if I don’t have much – I have more than I did. Jesus said: “Freely you have recieved – now freely give”. So give if you can…you may be answering someone’s prayer for that day. Feed the hungry…clothe or shelter the homeless. Give…and I guarantee you – our Father in heaven sees it all ..even if the person you are giving to…is to wounded or to hungry…or to disbelieving….to say thank you. Give anyway. My prayer: Lord I thank you for those who are out there giving right this minute. Bless them with increase…tripple their portion…and above all grant them your grace. Thanks for letting me share.

As many of you may already have heard. What comes around goes around. I am not trying to brag or anything but every month I try to give charity, and to be honest not does only make me feel good but for some reason I never run out of money either Thank God. but you are def. right. It def pays to give, but do not give because you think you will get more… You should give because you want to.

Loulinda, thanks for sharing your story. It is very touching and a good reminder of how much we all need each other. We never know when we will be on the “receiving end” and thankfully there are good people in this world to help us along the way. (I can tell you are one of them!) I’m sure you have also helped many people by “giving” them hope with your life story (that’s more valuable than money!) I’m soooo glad everything turned around for you. Keep the faith and good luck in whatever you do! JJ

Hi Diggy… Natural Tim “thinks” he’s a seduction guru, not all women would agree! lol (just kidding)

Manori Money, I agree, but sometimes we think we should hold onto our money and not give until we have more, or “enough to give”. It’s good to know that the act of giving will get you more so there’s no need to be stingy!

With giving you are also getting respect and power to drive the public. Big webmaster is giving away many things and in return they also got followers. Just take the example of a big webmaster and their twitter account and subscriber and you will be able to know about this.

You disclosed a fact about this world.
