I also love John Chow! I only recently learned of him through an article in one of my Entrepreneur magazines. I think I actually found out about EntreCard through his site too… (which reminds me, thank-you for accepting my entrecard Ad request)

Nice summary. To earn a full time income from a blog you will definitely spend more than 8 hours online per day and you will become frustrated at first, perhaps quitting within 6 months. Thats the norm.

About John Chow, he makes his money by persuading people (intentionally indirectly) that you can make money online like he does. He hints at it being possible but never says “this is how you do it from scratch” exactly. His blog has a high turnover ratio of visitors, almost all of them are always new and awe inspired to click on his links to get started.

The reality is, like John himself said on his blog recently, is that 99% of blogs won’t ever make $100.00. John’s selling the dream, and earning money from every link clicked, but the irony is that he’s making his money from the dreamers so does that mean to succeed online you need to sell the dream of making money to those who are new?

P.S. John hates me, has me banned from his blog. Heck even Shoemoney banned me from shoemoney.com because of a comment I made on John’s blog. None of these people want you to know the truth about blogs and money. They want to continue being the “authority” while selling the dream. I believe in full disclosure.

I think your the first person that I’ve heard actually make the statement that to be successful blogging you are going to spend more than 8 hours a day. I think that is a definite fact that newbies are never told. People hear that it’s hard work, can take a while, and takes dedication, but it does take a lot of work.

Well, Krysti, I do everything (pretty much) that you tell people to do as you’re the first “make money” site I went to when I started blogging only about 5 months ago. Want to know a secret, I didn’t know who John Chow was when I started out blogging, guess who told me who he was…YOU!!! Right now my income blogging is around $250/month, but I do other stuff as well to increase that number (surveys, etc). Keep telling us how to make money and we’ll keep doing it, as I want that dollar amount MUCH higher!
