Make More Money With Multiple Blogs
By now, most of us have heard that the best way to make money blogging is by having more than one blog. With multiple blogs you can diversifying your niches just as you would with mutual funds in the stock market. A good mutual fund invests in several different types of stock with several different companies. The money adds up and because all of your eggs are not in one basket, mutual funds are safer than investing in just one stock. The same principal applies to blogs but with blogs you don’t necessarily diversify for the safety of the investment because a blog doesn’t cost much to run. With blogs, you diversify to make MORE money. The average web hosting for a blog is around $7 a month and with most hosting companies you can also get unlimited add-ons for that price, so why not have more than one blog? All you have to pay for is a new domain name but if you don’t want to buy a name, you could even start some more blogs using a free hosted site such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com and use those blogs to drive traffic to your main site by linking them in your posts, or sidebar. (WordPress.com and Blogger.com provide free hosting but you do not own your domain name and there will be restrictions on ad usage.) By having multiple blogs in different niches (categories) and getting streams of income from all of them, you could make a very hefty yearly income right from your own home.
I have recently started two other blogs besides MomsCashBlog and later I hope to start more. I plan to keep them separate from MCB and I even have a friend who is interested in blogging and is working with me to learn about blogging. (and it’s great to have someone to dish with about blogging! lol). MCB makes pretty good money but I want to branch out and make MORE money and learn all I can about how to make money online. I can then pass what I’ve learned onto everyone who comes here. I am enjoying the process and the creativity it takes for each one of them. What I really like is that I can use all of the different aspects of my personality on my different blogs. With this blog, I’m pretty much boxed into a tight niche where I am teaching what I’ve learned about making money online so it’s not really appropriate for me to just talk about myself or certain things that interest me.. on the other ones I can say whatever I want and there’s freedom in that.
Whether you have multiple blogs or just one blog, you really should have a product or information to sell or give away. Of course you can have a successful blog without a “product”, but having something that people want or need gives others extra incentive to come to your blog and will bring in some money and traffic. Clickbank.com is a good place to get products to sell. I haven’t used Clickbank yet, but I do plan to choose a product to sell from them soon. If you haven’t been there yet, go now to check out all of the things they have to offer. (and by the way, I don’t get paid anything by telling you about them… I just want you to know what’s out there!) Once you see all of the e-books ranging from diet plans to gardening, software downloads , game and entertainment downloads, and everything else they have to offer, you’ll be inspired by all of the possibilities to make money from selling someone else’s product. You can display and sell the product as a hoplink on one of your blogs (here’s an example of a hoplink from one of Clickbank’s products: How to Make Money by Flipping Websites .
Actually, you don’t even need a blog to sell a product from Clickbank like you do with some affiliate programs. Just go to Clickbank.com, create an account and go to the Marketplace where you’ll see hundreds of products waiting for you to sell. However, if you do this, you would have to advertise in order to get it noticed on the web. (But if you do have a blog you can advertise your product for free!)
Some of you might be thinking “I’m not making much money with ONE blog, so why would I want two or three?” Conventional wisdom tells us that when something isn’t working, we should “give it up” and move onto something else… but conventional wisdom is what keeps most people from being inventive and experimenting and learning to make more money. In the case of blogging, if one isn’t making enough money for you, instead of giving up on blogs altogether, try adding MORE blogs to your portfolio. You can have income flowing in from each blog which will add up to some big money. Also you’ll be learning more creative ways to make money and it will give you more confidence in the blogging world. You might really enjoy running multiple blogs, or at least the experience could help you zero in on a niche that works perfectly for you. Blogging and making money online is all about experimenting and trying different things until you find what works for you!
By the way, on one of my new blogs I added the new Ping List from my previous post and much to my surprise I got comments on my very first post. Three of them were SPAM, but one was from a company willing to pay for a link to my new site! So make sure you use a good ping list to get your posts noticed.

I currently run several blogs. Any blogger knows that running a blog can be a lot of work, but running more than one can be a full time job some times! It does however pay off when the blog begins making an income1
So funny you blogged about this today because yesterday I was thinking about this for myself. I was just pondering the possibility of doing blogs on other subjects that interest me, so that I would not lose my interest in running them. I learned from my husband to not put all of my eggs in one basket. He usually has multiple streams of income. It’s a great philosophy to live by. Great post!
Hi JJ, I don’t have multiple blogs, I’m trying to bring out all topics in the current blog itself!
Haven’t tried ClickBank yet, will try after a couple of months
Tara… It does take more time, but I can’t wait to get to that point where I make income from the others. (it will take a while, I’m sure)
Hey Ze… multiple blogs are great for our multiple personalities! lol You’re husband is smart to do that. I have put ALL of my eggs in one basket before and I’ve been burned by it.
Shafar… Your blog is already a success. Let us know what you think of ClickBank when you try it and I’ll keep you posted about my experiences. (btw, how did you do on your exams?)
I also have multiple blogs and it is definitely time-consuming, but as far as earnings are concerned it is excellent.
[...] unknown wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt [...]
Solace, I AM worried about the time-consuming thing but hopefully I can handle it.
Hi JJ:
This is exactly what all new bloggers should understand; even, online sellers. I myself have several blogs under this site and others. Sure, sometimes I feel like Michael Keaton (Multiplicity) This can be fun, but it does become your full time job.
BTW – ClickBank is great as you stated. You do not have to have a Blog or website. Many people are making money with ClickBank using Craigslist.
– What great timing you have!
Laura… Do you mean they are advertising their product on Craigslist?
I think I like the “multiplicity” of it all. (lol) Having the other blogs to work on helps me with ideas to write about on this blog.
Thank you for the message. Actually I want to try this to be able to make some..you know. But I don’t have the courage. I am scared to take the risk. That’s my problem.
Anyway, I am already here in the USA.
I arrived here in TX on Feb. 23, 2008.
Hi JJ – great article. As you know, I’ve subscribed to the multiple blog theory for a while now. I currently have 17 active <:0. Blogging is very much a full time job in my case, but the great thing about having more than one is that if you get writers block on one subject, you can write in a different style for another blog instead.
Yes I’d say the more blogs the better. Assuming the quality of already established blogs doesn’t suffer. Although i sometimes think that once a blog gets big enough its popularity just kind of snowballs even if it does turn to crap, but that’s a different story.
I’m only a couple days away from starting a new site, which may be a challenge because as you know I often find it hard just to deal with one. But we will see.
Great post JJ! I’m finally learning how to manage my blogs successfully
! Its been a challenge! I love what you are doing by the way!! Much more success!!
A very nice blog. Managing many blogs do demand full time attention and review. If you have lot of time at your disposal and if you can devote more, it should be a good opportunity for you to earn more.
They certainly do. Craigslist is a hit for marketing. I will find some existing ads to give you an idea. Well are all benefiting from your Multiplicity! Keep it up
Hey JJ!
Yeah so true, great to hear that your blog is making money!
I see my blog and something where I can just express my personal views, hopefully it will start making money one day, right now it has brought me about 3$ from adsense;) I think there is more money in affiliate marketing and using PPC.
Nope, I am from South Africa:) It’s pretty similar apparently to Aussie land, and beautiful to live in!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Hey guys…. Thanks for the feedback. looks like I’m a “late bloomer” when it comes to multiple blogs! (everyone else already has them.) lol It’s good for all of the “newbies” out there to know that once you master one blog, adding a few more to your portfolio is the way to make money.
Laura, thanks, I’d like to see an example of that.

Dirk.. I’d like to be there right now. It’s getting very cold where I am!
Great article thanks for the insight.
To Jenny McCarthy: It was a joy to talk to you and I am honored that you would take the time and give me such information and encouragement. I can not find the website you told me about since the password I have does not work. If you could please have someone in your office forward a password to the address I have provided.
God Bless you and many thanks for the progressive work you and your team have done for us. You are giving hope to many. Your friend, Mary (Chad’s mom)
I have been trying clickbank really hard for a while now – and have yet to make a single sale. I have had afar more luck with Adsense so far.
I guess you need to pick your niche and keywords for PPC very carefully, or go down the ‘article / squidoo’ route to get free traffic as it can sometimes take more than a THOUSAND visitors to make a single sale (I know this from experience now)…
Hi Mary… I just sent you an e-mail, from jj@momscashblog.com.
Hi Jordan… Thanks for the input. I haven’t tried Clickbank yet. Do you have it as a hoplink on your blog or are you using it separately?
JJ, thanks for the info. Good to know we don’t need a blog to use Clickbank. If it is free I will try that. Obviously I still haven’t started my first blog yet let alone multiple ones. LOL
Hey JJ!
I agree, putting all your eggs in one basket is never a good idea. People should start more than one blog or site to diversify, given they have the time to manage two or more.
Hi JJ
I’m just getting into the blogging with my first blog, Howls. I is in the golf niche and I am just starting to get the hang of getting it out there. I’ve been reading other golf blogs (and blogging blogs too) and commenting on the posts.
I plan to start at least one other blog in the next week or so and have some general ideas for others. This article was quite helpful and I also found your pinging article helpful. I didn’t really understand that until I read Don’t Forget to Ping Your Blog. You’ve got some great stuff here and I will be mining the archives 8=)
Shalom
Hi Rachael. Yes, it’s free, so give it a try. You don’t need a blog, but you’ll have to advertise somehow. Good luck.
Hi Tushar… I see your contest is in my Entrecard space right now.I’ll have to check that out!
LoneWolf…Glad to meet you. If you are into golfing then Ping has a whole different meaning. ah? lol Shalom

Have a great Thanksgiving for those of you in the US. I’ve had about 20 wild turkeys hanging around my house this past month and I tried to take photos but they are smarter than I thought. It isn’t easy getting a picture of turkeys. they run for the woods and disappear.
Great article. It makes sense in having multiple blogs to generate more revenue. It is definitely wise to have your blog hosted with its own domain. Although there are some free blogs that have been successful. What are your thoughts on picking a niche and then covering it from different angles from multiple blogs? I also like the idea one commenter pointed out about using Craigslist to promote clickbank products.
http://www.freelanceshot.com
coreym, I think it’s a great idea to pick a niche and cover it from different angles on other blogs. I plan to do that with my other blogs, but not with MomsCashBlog since the Make Money Online niche is so saturated. (great blog name, btw.)
Hope everyone had a great holiday.
JJ- Hope you had a great holiday and your readers too… Hope all is well and looking forward to your next post
Hey Laura, all is well. We had a great Thanksgiving… SO good that we stayed an extra week. (My bf has a lot of vacation time and he will lose it if he doesn’t use it.)
Hope you had a great holiday too! Be back “on the scene” soon.
The best advantage with multiple blogs is that you can “cross sell” them both to your visitors and to search engines. Link the blogs together and you’ll get two new links from outside domains for every post you make

[...] Moms Cash Blog says Make More Money With Multiple Blogs! [...]
Thanks for the helping out with great info like this. I started two blogs about a month ago and after reading this article last week, started another. I’ll also be checking out Clickbank today.
Where I come from girls are considered to know nothing about IT, but my girls and I started a blog and promoted it to receive some visits. It’s a start but we will not back down from this challenge.
I am running a very small but interesting Internet marketing business. I used your post as a helping hand for my written assignment on Internet marketing.
I think as a concept having multiple blogs can be a very valuable tool for any website. The search engine benefits of blogs are universally accepted across the web design and business community. However the effort required to maintain a successful blog should not be under estimated. I have been running a few blogs since the past 8 months or so. On a regular basis I find it difficult to manage all my blogs. Realistically speaking only one of my blogs gets the required attention n a regular basis. The rest of them I am barely able to update once every 6 weeks or so just to keep them going. Having multiple blogs can certainly be useful. However it will require full time attention to be successful on search engines and to establish a user base.
Hi! I enjoyed reading your posts. I felt that your research techniques must be really cool. I’m running a small website and doing internet marketing, so I’m going through a lot of posts.
Thanks such a great information. this is really good blog.
